    Alice Ramona “Mona” Chapman, 86 of Galena, IL passed peacefully with family at 10:15 PM, Wednesday, April 5, 2017. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Galena. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. She was born September 9, 1930 in Harper’s Ferry, IA the daughter of Harold and Helen Mooney. Mona was united in marriage to Chip (Dale) Chapman on August 9, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 6, 1978. She lived a full life and was well-known and loved by her family and community as a kind woman who enjoyed cooking, music, gardening and spending time giving through her church. With her gentle and loving-spirit, she brought smiles to all of those who had the pleasure to surround her. Surviving are her nine children, Rick (Mary) Chapman, Steve Chapman, Brigid (Ken) Ellerbach, Kevin (Julie) Chapman, Rodney (Deborah) Chapman, Megan (Gene) Sproule, Paul (Ronda) Chapman, Cara (Roger) Middendorf and Kris Chapman, two brothers, Maury (Kay) and Tom Mooney, nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Jeanne Mooney-Norton and sister in-law, Carol Mooney. Her joyous soul can be commemorated through contributions to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. The family would like to thank all her physicians and the staff at Hospice of Dubuque. “Those who love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day- unseen, unheard but always near.. still loved, still missed, and very dear.

    GALENA, Ill.--Darlene Faye Hervey, 68, 802 Shadow Bluff Drive, Galena, Ill. and Ft. Myers, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla., after a long struggle against Pulmonary Hypertension and the underlying Scleroderma.

    She was born on June 3, 1939 at Milton, Iowa, the daughter of Orphie and Beulah Humphrey and grew up with a brother, Carl, and a sister, Louise, in Milton. She was the loving and supportive wife of Roger D. Hervey who she married on Aug. 11, 1957 in Milton.

    She graduated from Milton High School in 1957. After moving to Galena in 1971, she was an active volunteer for local organizations such as the Galena-Stauss Hospital Auxiliary including serving as their president and managing their gift shop for several years. She received the Auxiliary's "Auxi" award to recognize her many community services. She also worked with Meals on Wheels and was an active member and choir member of the Galena United Methodist Church. She enjoyed coordinating and assisting with many of the food preparation projects at the church. In recent years, Roger and Darlene have enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Fla.

    Survivors include her husband, Roger, born 1939 in Keosauqua, Iowa; one son, Michael, born 1958 in Keosauqua, his wife, Deborah (Green) and their daughter, Margaret, who now live on Long Island, N.Y.; one daughter, Ronda, born 1961 in Osceola, Iowa, and her husband, Paul Chapman, and their children, Alyssa, Andrew and Nicholas, who now live near Green Bay, Wis.

    Also surviving are her mother, Beulah Humphrey, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; one brother, Carl (Betty) Humphrey, Milton, Fla.; and one sister, Louise (Keith) Taylor, Mt. Pleasant.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Orphie Humphrey; and one sister, Mary Lou, who died in infancy.

    Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, 100 Carol-don Court, Galena. Visitation will also be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Galena United Methodist Church, 125 South Bench St., Galena.

    Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at the Galena United Methodist Church, Galena, with the Rev. Dan Schenck officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the services in Greenwood Cemetery in Galena.

    HAROLD MICHAEL MOONEY

    Funeral services are held Monday for Harold Mooney. Harold M. Mooney of rural Harpers Ferry died May 19, 1986 at St. Francis Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisc. He was born June 5, 1906 in Lafayette Twp. the son of Michael and Briget (Kernan) Mooney. He married Helen Schwartzhoff on October 1, 1927 in Harpers Ferry. They farmed in the Wexford area for many years.

    He is survived by his wife, two sons: Maurice of rural Harpers Ferry, and Thomas of Cedar Rapids, two daughters: Jeanne Norton of Atlanta, Georgia and Mona Chapman of Galena, Illinois, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Mohn and Katherine Wadsworth, both of Waukon. Funeral services were held on Wednesday the 21st of May at 11:00 at Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford, Fr. John Smith, officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Pall bearers were Stan Schwartzhoff, Sean Mooney, Jim Wadsworth, Rich Chapman, George Delaney, Ray Callahan, Nat Mooney and Bill Mohn. Honorary pall bearers were Joe Mullin, Steve O'Niel, Virgil Wittle, Rudolph Deli, Jim Hollihan, Tom Kerndt, Cyril Murphy and Harry Dice. The Burke-Thornburg funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.

    Helen Marie Mooney, 92, of rural Harpers ferry died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

    Surviving are a daughter, Ramona Chapman of Galena, Ill.; two sons, Tom and Carole of Marion and Maurice and Kay of Harpers Ferry; 18 grandchldren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann and Jack Hemling of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Gregg and Charlotte Schwartzhoff of Milwaukee.

    Funeral services were held Saturday at the Immacilate Conception Catholic Church with internment in the Wexford Cemetery. The Martin Funeral Home, Waukon assisted with the arrangements.

    Funeral services for Helen Marie Mooney, age 92, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 1998 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in the Wexford Cemetery, rural Lansing, Iowa with the Martin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Tim Mooney, Sean Mooney, Richard Mooney, Rod Chapman, Herb Dehli, Ray Callahan, Jim Wadsworth, and Stanley Schwartzhoff. Honorary bearers were Dorothy Schwartzhoff, Alice Conway, Mary Mohn, Emma Dehli, Geneva Johnson, Anna Callahan, Genevieve Collins, Hazel Theis, and Betty Amundson.

    Helen Marie, daughter of Herman and Mary (Danaher) Schwartzhoff, was born April 4, 1905 in Dorchester, Iowa. She attended elementary school in Dorchester and St. Vincent's High School in Dubuque, Iowa. On October 1, 1927 Helen married Harold Mooney in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. They farmed in the rural Harpers Ferry area for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford Catholic Church and its St. Theresa Circle. In May 1995 Helen became a resident of Northgate Care Center.

    Helen Marie Mooney died Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a daughter Regina Norton, one grandson, four sisters, Cecelia Baxter, Winifred Schwartzhoff, Margaret Schwartzhoff, and Lucille Severson; six brothers, Harold Schwartzhoff, Jack Schwartzhoff, Alfonse Schwartzhoff, Cletus Schwartzhoff, Mark Schwartzhoff, and George Schwartzhoff.

    Helen is survived by a daughter, Ramona Chapman of Galena, Illinois; 2 sons, Tom (Carole) Mooney, and Maurice (Kay) Mooney, all of Harpers Ferry, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ann (Jack) Helming of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 1 brother, Gregg (Charlotte) Schwartzhoff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

    ROBERT W. HERVEY
    Robert W. Hervey, son of John W. and Grace Sell Hervey, was born January 16, 1912, and departed this life Monday, August 28, 1978 at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield at
    the age of 66.

    He had farmed and retired because of failing health. He was a sales representative for the National Motor Club
    .
    On April 10, 1936, he married Helen Krebill at Keosauqua, Iowa. She remains to cherish his memory along with their three daughters, Mrs. Jim Leuck of North Manchester, Ind. . Mrs. Jim Wiley of Keosauqua. and Mrs. Jim Clark of Forest Lake, Minn.; one son, Roger of Galena, III.; 14 grand children; five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Beggs, Keosauqua, Mrs. Elmer Mellen. Gary Summitt, Mo. Mrs. Herb Duke, Gallatin, Mo., Mrs. Guy Mumford, Keosauqua, and Mrs. Wanda Akey. Seattle, Washington, other relatives and many friends. A son, Hollis, grandson Ricky, one brother Willard. one sister, Lucille preceded him in death.

    He was a long time member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

    He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a good neighbor and friend.

    Funeral services were held Thursday, August 31, 1978 at 2 P. M. at the Center Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev· John Cornish officiating. Interment was in the
    Center Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

Hervey, daughter of Otto and Abigail Schowalter Krebill, was bom August 25, 1917 in Donnellson, Iowa and died Thursday, July 7, 1983 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 65. She graduated from Donnellson High School, attended Iowa Wesleyan College, and taught achool.

    On April 11, 1936, she married Robert Hervey at Keosauqua. They farmed in the Center Chapel community south of Keosauqua.

    Mr. Hervey died in 1978. Also preceding her in death were a son, Hollis, a brother, Homer Krebill and a grandson, Rickey Wiley.

    Helen was a long-time active member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church, and attended the Keosauqua United Methodist Church since moving to town. She was co-president of the Keosauqua United Methodist Women and a volunteer worker with the Happy Day Express Preschool at the Keosauqua church.

    For a number of years she was coordinator of the Keosauqua Neighborhood Center, and until her last illness was employed at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center. She volunteered her talents in a variety of services to the community. She and her husband sang and played gospel, folk and popular music at many community gatherings and on a regular basis at the Good Samaritan Center prior to his death. Her contributions to the happiness of others will be remembered as a fitting memorial to her life of service.

    Remaining are a son, Roger of Galena,. llL.; and three daughters, Roberta Leuck, North Manchester; Ind.; Marilyn Wiley, Keosauqua; and Sharon Clark, Forest Lake, Minn. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, one great grandson, and two brothers, Marvin Krebill, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Dwight Krebill, Donnellson, other relatives and many friends.

    Funeral services were held Monday, July 11, 1983 at 3 p.m. in the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with Dr. Louise Spears and Rev.Louise Knupp officiating.

    Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery. Memorials were established for the American Cancer Society and the Happy Day Express pre-school. Arrangemetns were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

    Beulah Humphrey

    MILTON: Beulah Humphrey, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. She was born July 4, 1913 in Pulaski, Iowa to James Edward and LeuEmma Ernst Ritz. She married Orphie L. Humphrey March 2, 1933 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 5, 1991. Orphie and Beulah spent most of their married lives in Milton, Iowa where they raised their three children. Orphie worked as a carpenter and Beulah was a homemaker. They moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1989. She was a member of the Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, and embroidering.

    She is survived by a son, Carl (Betty) Humphrey of Milton, Florida; a daughter, Louise (Keith) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Roger Hervey of Fort Myers, Florida.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 daughters, Darlene Hervey and infant Mary Lou Humphrey; 2 sisters, Alta Frymoyer and Velma Linkey; brothers Roy and Floss Ritz and an infant brother.
    Funeral services will be at 11am on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Cantril Christian Church in Cantril, Iowa with Pastors Jerry Caughron and Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 10am on Thursday until the time of the service at the church. A memorial has been established to the Pleasant Manner Care Center Activity Fund.
