    BELLEVUE, Iowa -- Donald "Nippy" Stuart, 85, of Bellevue, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bellevue, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 273. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home until procession to the church.

    He was born on March 5, 1923, in Bellevue, son of Rodney and Elsie (Jones) Stuart. He married Madonna Lampe on Sept. 5, 1944, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

    Donald was a World War II veteran who served in the Army from 1943 to 1946.

    He was a hardworking man who was a carpenter for more than 70 years. He was a mentor to many in the community.

    He was a member of the Bellevue Fire Department and the American Legion Post 273.

    Donald was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed hunting rattlesnakes. He will be deeply missed.

    Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Madonna; four children, Pam (Dick) Cheney, of Dubuque, Paula (Chuck) Prada, of Viera, Fla., Portia Holloway, of Bellevue, and Sheila (Mark) Kelley, of Platteville, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Christina and Christopher Cheney, Charles (Alison) and Andrew Prada, Matthew Holloway, Stephen, Jenna, Bridget and Samantha Kelley; and two greatgrandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Lyman Stuart; and four sisters, Louise Sanders, Gwendalyn Jess, Katherine Davis and June Williams.

    Madonna M. Stuart, 85, of Bellevue, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, with her family at her side. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, officiated by Rev. Phillip Kruse. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at Hachmann Funeral and Cremation Service and again Thursday at the funeral home from 9:30 until the procession to the church. Madonna was born on July 16, 1925 in Bellevue, daughter of Benjamin and Margaret(Malone) Lampe. She married Donald (Nip) Stuart on September 5. 1944 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were married for sixty four years until his death on November 13,2008. Throughout her lifetime, Madonna shared her many gifts and talents with her family, friends and neighbors. Madonna instilled her own love of learning in her daughters. She was an excellent seamstress, making everything from Easter outfits to prom dresses. Madonna was able to create tasty meals from whatever Nip brought home from the woods. These same traits translated into her commitment as a 4-H leader and Campfire leader. She also volunteered at st. Joseph's hot lunch program and the school library for ten years. Madonna will also be remembered by the community for her volunteer work at the Young Museum and for greeting guests at the Tourist Center in Bellevue. Her dedicated work at the Bellevue Public Library for seventeen years brought a new sense of fulfillment to her life. She loved tracing her family genealogy and was instrumental in helping compile a published edition of the Lampe family history. Madonna was the oldest of ten children and was dearly loved and respected by her family. Surviving are her four children, Pam(Dick) Cheney of Dubuque, Paula (Chuck) Prada of Viera, Florida, Portia Holloway of Bellevue and Sheila (Mark) Kelley of Platteville, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Christina and Christopher Cheney, Charles (Alison) Prada, Andrew Prada, Matthew (Diana) Holloway, Stephen (Amber) Kelley, Jenna, Bridget, and Samantha Kelley; three great grandchildren: Ben, Nicholas and Marx,brothers: Lewis Lampe and Ron (Scherie) Lampe, and three sisters, Orvetta Conrad, Annabelle Alford and Barbara Loeb, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Ardell Lampe, Frederick Lampe, and two sisters, Phyllis Leendertse and Evelyn Cadle. The family would like to thank Third Floor South staff of Stonehill Care Center for their compassionate and dignified care.
