    "John Ernst returned home Saturday from Kansas, where he was visiting his brothers. They were both sick when he went, and both of them died. They and he with their father and mother were among the earliest settlers of this vicinity. Wm Ernst was a member of the famous 3rd Iowa Cavalry, and served his time out with them in the civil war."

    In the will of Daniel I, who was married to Nancy Kesey, and written on Nov. 7, 1836, he talks of
    son Daniel, daughter Elizabeth Champer, wife of Jacob Champer, daughter Sarah Champer, wife of
    David Champer, daughter Ann Caris, (Caris is spelled wrong) wife of Philip Caris, son Lasarus, and son
    John. The Daniel II I had died in 1881, at he age of 81. Probate court says he was born in Cumberland County,
    Pa. Also in this will of Daniel # 1, his son Daniel is the first child listed, which would be more likely the eldest
    child.

    John Kesey’s wife was Mary. His children were; John, Barbara, Elizabeth, Nancy and Mary

    Each child willed 50 (pounds). Also 500 (pounds) to the four daughters, 50 (pounds) a year beginning two years after his decease.

    One half of Nancy’s share to herself, separate from her husband, and the other half to be equally divided amongst her first children by William Stenger. His son-in-law, Barnet Shuller and his son John Kesey named executors of the Will.
