O.K. Tami, your timing is good.

Haven't had a real day off in many moons and today is it! I will post the birthdates of all the Springer children below according to Blanche Harrison-Stroop a descendant of Isabel Springer and Ephraim Harrison. Blanche is actually responsible for ALL the info pertaining to the following Springer family tree. She, Walter Green and Diane Reichwein spent many years digging this stuff up.

    George Washington Springer B.4-8-1802
D.9-29-1954 Not sure if he was born in N.J. or N.Y. Father was Noah Springer, Mother was Polly Dutcher.

Father Noah Springer B.1779 had five children:

    David
    Charity
    George W. B.1802
    Barney D. B.9-26-1803
    Sallie

It is noted here that George Washington Springer married Loisanna Green who is said to have been a niece of Charity Springer's husband.

Loisanna Green B.4-6-1812. D.7-19-1874. We have no confirmation of her birth place but it is thought to be N.Y. Her father is yet unknown and her mother is thought to be Christina Williams. No confirmation though.

Known Children of George Washington Springer and Loisanna Green are:

Louiza M.(also recorded as Louisa M.)-thought to have been born in N.Y. in the early 1830'S. No confirmation. LOUIzA married Joseph Suits 1849 in Michigan. Louisa's death is still a mystery. The 1860 census of Butte Co. Ca. shows Joseph Suits living there with two children, Lois Ann and Mary. Also possibly living nearby his parents. No mention of Louis(z)a M in the 1860 census. I believe she may have died in childbirth or definately at some point between 1853-1860. One child of this marrige that I know of is Lois Ann B. 1853 in the Utah Territory. It is possible we may find Louiza's death record amoung the earliest LDS records if she died in the Utah Territory or near to the time of one of the childrens births.

Sarah Ellen- B.3-30-1834 in N.Y. D.1863 in California of consumption.Buried in the Sacramento City Cemetery. Married Stephen Hite in 1853 at Sac.They had five children. Oliver Walcott,Frank Lesley,Isabelle Alma,Hilda Charlotta and Elizabeth Ann. As I recall two of the three boys would die near to the time of their mother's death in Sac. Also Buried in the Sac. City Cemetery.

    Polly- B.6-15-1836 in Ill.D.@ birth?

Phebe- B.10-22-1837 in Ill. D. 8-25-1838 in Ill.

Van Rensselaer- B.4-?-1839 in Ill.D.1906-1912 in Texas.
Married twice. First; Eliza Ann Worgh- Hoyt January of 1872. One child: Grace B.1874 died an infant. Second: Francis Thompson- Koeningheim 1878 in Texas. Five Children: George, AnnaBelle,Isabelle,Henrietta and Olive.

o.k.gang now that I have gone thru the motions of trying to gather just a small bit of the reams of info I have on this family, I see that I must sit down some day and get to the finer details...... someday. Do not take the above as the gospel. Some is off the top of my head.

I am now in the process of trying to locate the Springer Bible which I believe will help to clarify some of this even more. It was last known to be in the possession of the Swift family of Napa and I have had recent discussions with this line. I hope they can come up with it! Say a prayer please.

    Regards, Kevin

"George W. Springer" was enumerated in the 1840 U.S. census for South Haven, Van Buren County, Michigan. He was head of a household of 6 individuals, including himself. His household included one male age 30-39 (George, age about 38), on female age 20-29 (Loisanna, age about 28), two females age 5-9 (Louisa, age about 8; and Sarah, age about 6), and one female and one male under age 5 (Phebe, a newborn; and Van Renselaer, age about 1).

"He and his family came to California in 1852. Along the way, he kept a journal, which has been transcribed by Kevin Engle and Blanche Stroop. The journal is dated from 6 April 1852 to 1 December 1852. The wagon train started in Niles, Berrien County, Michigan. From there, they traveled along the emigrant route to Salt Lake City, then headed south to the Cajon Pass. The last leg of their journey was by steamer from southern California to Sacramento."

David Williams and the capture of Andre: a paper read before the Tarrytown Historical Society, Marcius Denison Raymond, Tarrytown Argus, 1902, 26 pages:

"Aert Williams certainly had a sister Rachel, who married Martinus Van Wart, the father of Isaac Van Wart, one of the Captors, who was an own cousin to David Williams. Then David Williams had a sister Sarah who married David Mead, and a sister Catharine who married Andrew Green, a son Moses, baptised in 1769, for whom Moses Harris and Sarah Williams were sponsors. Also sisters Rachel and Maritie, and a brother John, who were unmarried. We will only add the genealogical fact that Femmetie (Phebe) Waldron, the mother of David Williams, was the daughter of Jan Waldron and Margarictie Rouw his wife, and baptised at the old Dutch Church, Nov. 20, 1736, Nicklaes Rouw and Annatie Rouw being sponsors. Margarietie Rouw (Rowe) was a member of the old Dutch Church date of 1734."
