    HARVEY, Elton Bartlett ``Bud'', Jr.

    Elton Bartlett ``Bud'' Harvey, Jr. of Rocky Hill, departed this world on Thursday, (February 22, 2001). Born in Kenosha, WI, on July 5, 1922, son of Elton Barlett Harvey and Ruth Van Buskirk, he lived most of his life in Rocky Hill. A graduate of Bulkeley High School and Union College, he served with the 13th Airborne Division in World War II. He was a construction engineer with the Metropolitan District Commission for 38 years, until his retirement in 1987, and founder and principal of E.B. Harvey Jr. & Sons, Engineering and Land Surveying of Rocky Hill at the time of his death. A past Trustee of the Rocky Hill Congregational Church and Mason, Bud was active in local affairs, serving on the Rocky Hill Open Space & Conservation Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Permanent School Building Committee. He was a member of the Connecticut Society of Professional Engineers, the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors, and the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping. He enjoyed bowling with the Rocky Hill Men's Bowling League, and he will be remembered as a loyal fan of the Rocky Hill soccer programs, spending many hours watching his children and grandchildrem on the soccer field. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie (Johnson) Harvey; his sister and brother-in-law, Leahbeth and Robert Fritsch of Marlborough; his sons, Atty. Elton B. Harvey, III and his partner, Pamela LeBlanc of Wethersfield, Russell S. Harvey and his wife, Donna of Rocky Hill; Andrew S. Harvey and his partner, Nanci Schultz of Middletown, Daniel M. Harvey and his wife, Carol of Rocky Hill; and his daughter, Jorie Nerkowski of Rocky Hill; 18 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and his niece and nephews. Special thanks go from the family to the staff of Hartford Hospital, for their care of Bud during his final days. Funeral arrangements are at the convenience of the family; and a memorial service will be held for friends and family on Saturday, March 3, 11:30 a.m. at the Rocky Hill Congregational Church, 805 Old Main Street, Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, or the Rocky Hill Congregational Church Memorial Garden Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.
