Note: It is now believed that wife Charity and he first emmigrated to Illinois in 1835 and then at some point after daughter Sarah's birth in Illinois in 1838 to Iowa and then back to Galena in 1843. This conclusion is from Barnabus's obituary which states that Barnabus was born in Iowa in 1842 and then moved with his parents to Galena when he was one year old.

Binninger in his copy of the "History of the 96th Regiment." The book and its contents survived a disasterous house fire becasue they were kept in a metal tank. These documents provided the information which led to finding the Parish Records in Nimburg, Baden Germany which showed the baptisims, marriages, and deaths of his family and ancestors. These Parrish Records had been filmed by the LDS Church and were available through their Family History Centers.

Michael and Augustrus Wierich bought 160 acres of land in Section 4, Tep 27, near Pilot Knob south of Galena, Illinois for the sum of $380. He sold the land in 1843 prior to his death.

At the time of his marriage to Anna, she was Roman Catholic and they were married in the Schottenkirche in Vienna.
