Michael was a Master Tailor for the Austrian Ruling Family and his wife Anna was a professional cook for the same family. He took an oath of citizenship in the town of Baden, Austria in 1827. He was married in Vienna in 1827 and immigrated to America in 1838. He immigrated from Hamburg to New Orleans 1 OCT 1838. The original documents were kept by John A. Binninger in his copy of the "History of the 96th Regiment." The book and its contents survived a disasterous house fire becasue they were kept in a metal tank. These documents provided the information which led to finding the Parish Records in Nimburg, Baden Germany which showed the baptisims, marriages, and deaths of his family and ancestors. These Parrish Records had been filmed by the LDS Church and were available through their Family History Centers.

Michael and Augustrus Wierich bought 160 acres of land in Section 4, Tep 27, near Pilot Knob south of Galena, Illinois for the sum of $380. He sold the land in 1843 prior to his death.

At the time of his marriage to Anna, she was Roman Catholic and they were married in the Schottenkirche in Vienna.

Michael married Bernschwinger, Anna Christina in 1825 in Vienna, Austria. Anna (daughter of Bernschwinger, Christoph and Kauhauser, Barbara) was born on 13 Sep 1800 in Württemberg, Germany; died on 2 Nov 1894 in Galena, Jo Daviess County, Illinois, USA; was buried on 5 Nov 1894 in Galena, Jo Daviess County, Illinois, USA. Anna moved to Vienna with the mother when she was 13 years old. At the time of her marriage she belonged to the Roman Catholic Church and she married in the Schottenkirche in Vienna.

Over the years she bought and sold many pieces of propoert in Galena, Illinois. She lived on Bouthillier St. in Galena. Her second marriage was to Anton Fink on 16 AUG 1853. Anton Fink died about a year or two later.
