    Wayne F. "Sonny" Hervey, 61, of Cedar Falls, IA died at 3:19 AM, Wednesday, December 29, 1999 at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, IA. He was born November 4, 1938 in Iowa City to Wayne M and Hazel Murphy Hervey. He married Shirley Weaver. They were divorced. He married Donna Bicker Livesay March 13, 1993 at New Hartford, MO.

    He graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army 1956-1959 including service in Korea.

    He and wife currently manage University Manor Apartments in Cedar Falls.

    Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Deborah DeWitt of Bonaparte and Rita Hayes of Keosauqua, two sons, Terry Hervey of Birmingham and Ronald Hervey of Pulaski + (several step children).

    His parents and an infant brother, Maynard preceded him in death.

    Funeral services were Monday, January 3, 2000 at Center Chapel Church southeast of Keosauqua. Burial was in Center Chapel Cemetery.

    Kansas until the spring of 1895 when he and a younger brother Joe,
    (15) left by way of horse and buggy for the state of Iowa, to make
    their home with an aunt, Mrs. Mosier, who lived on a large farm near
    Lebanon. Another brother, John, soon joined them.

    Henry was a farmer in Summit Township on top of the divide between Condordia and Beloit. The homestead place was called "The Light-house". Hervey used to light a large oil lamp, put it on a table in the center of his little 16 by 20 shack, put up the shade and let the light shine out of the windows that were built in three sides of the shack. "Many a night, my wife and I took people in when they had lost their way on the road." A Concordia news article had the above information, when, at age 78, Henry returned to Concordia for Decoration Day. He had left Concordia after his wife died and was living in Iowa and Missouri with his 13 children.
