    Nancye Ruth Krebill, 85, of Keokuk, died at 7:27 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

    Born July 7, 1921, in Waverly, Tenn., she was the daughter of Edward E. and Sabra Pace. On April 5, 1940, she married Roland F. Krebill in Bells, Tenn. He later died.

    Mrs. Krebill worked part-time as a bookkeeper for her husband's firm, Krebill Engineering Co.

    She loved serving in the Hospital Auxiliary, the YM-YWCA Board, the Keokuk Human Relations Council, the PTA, Scouts, American Heart Association, and many other groups. Her involvement in the philanthropic education organization and PEO spanned 50 years and included stints as president of local and state chapters and historian of the International PEO. In 1998 she was presented with The Spirit of Keokuk Award for her volunteerism and philanthropic work. She moved to Keokuk in 1950 and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In 2003 she was designated a "saint" of the church. She began living in the skilled nursing unit of River Hills Village last October.

    Survivors include two sons, Michael Edward Krebill of Keokuk and Dan Preston Krebill of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two daughters, Martha Lynn Pace of Black Mountain, N.C., and Elizabeth Jean Fox of Toledo, Ore.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and one son.

    There will be no visitation.

    The memorial service for Mrs. Krebill will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, with the Rev. Bill Olmsted officiating.

    DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.

    Memorials have been established for the Iowa PEO Project Fund, Inc., and Trinity United Methodist Church.

    Nancye "Ruth" Krebill, 85, of Keokuk died at 7:27 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006, in River Hills Village, Keokuk.
    She was born on July 7, 1921, in Waverly, TN, the daughter of Edward E. and Saba Pace.
    She married Roland F. Krebill on April 5, 1941 in Bells, TN. He preceded her in death.
    Survivors include two sons, Michael Edward Krebill, of Keokuk, IA and Dan Preston Krebill, of Chapel Hill, NC; two daughters, (Martha) Lynn Pace of Black Mountain, NC and Elizabeth Jean Fox of Toledo, OR; eight grandchildren, Kristin McCabe and her husband Peter, Peter Krebill and his wife Stacy, Ganid Burton, Laura, Nic, and Emily Krebill, and Sara and Ian Fox; two great grandchildren, Christopher and Katie McCabe; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, by two sisters, Martha Harmon and Evelyn Marsh, one brother, Edward E. Pace, Jr., and one son, John Robert Krebill.
    Employed part-time as a bookkeeper for her husband’s firm, Krebill Engineering Company, and busy raising five children, Ruth still found time to devote to her community. She loved serving in the Hospital Auxilary, the YM-YWCA Board, the Keokuk Human Relations Council, the PTA, Scouts, American Heart Association, and many other benevolent groups. Her love of and involvement in the philanthropic education organization, PEO, spans 50 years, and includes stints as President of local and state chapters and Historian of the International PEO. In 1998, Ruth was presented with The Spirit of Keokuk Award for her volunteerism and philanthropic work. In the summer of 2005, The Daily Gate City profiled her in “People Who Make a Difference - The Fabric of Our Community.”
    Beginning in 1950, when Ruth and her family moved to Keokuk, she took the time to share her talents with Trinity United Methodist Church. In 2003, she was designated a “saint” of the church, in recognition of her decades of Christian service.
    She began living in the skilled nursing unit of River Hills Village last October, after falling and breaking her elbow. She was fond of the professionals and the residents there, and made an impression on them as a “sweet lady.”
    Memorial services were Friday, July 21, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by her good friend and former pastor Reverend Bill Olmsted and Dr. Emmanuel Dass. Arrangements are coordinated by DeJong’s Funeral Home.
    Memorial gifts may be made to the Iowa PEO Project Fund, Inc., or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
