William served in the Revolution in the VA continental Line. He was a Corporal, 1st Continent al Artillery, Col Charles Harrison's Regt, Captain John Champe Carters Co #7. Appointed Bomba dier 20 Dec 1776. Was with Washington's Army at Valley Forge from Dec 1777 to June 1778. Cor poral at camp near Chester, 9 July 1779. William received 200 acres of land in Nelson Co K Y for services, but I don't think he ever lived there, b ecause he inherited 300 acres of lan d from his father in Mason Co, KY (on the Ohio River & Millcreek), and moved his family ther e in May 1788. Frances died soon after reaching the fort.
