  Christian Frederick Krauter - Hawk Eye, The - (Jan/9/2004) Christian Frederick Krauter, 88, of Donnellson, died at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at his home. Born July 18, 1915, in Deer Creek, Ill., he was the son of Jacob J. and Matilda Schnierle Krauter. On April 16, 1949, he married Vesta Lowenberg in Donnellson. Mr. Krauter was a farmer. He also sold Vigortone Feeds for 30 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Donnellson American Legion, Zion Mennonite Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer, and was a board member of the church and cemetery. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edward Krauter of Burlington and Stephen Krauter of Donnellson; two daughters, Kristi Keller and Donna Vogel, both of Donnellson; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Hofbauer-Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Krauter will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson, with the Rev. Richard Bentzinger officiating. Burial with full military rites by the Donnellson American Legion will be in Zion Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Zion Mennonite Church and Donnellson American Legion.
