Additional information from "Inhabitants of Wil, Zürich, Switzerland and Surrounds":
Found an entrance in the begrafenisboek of the Nederlands Hervormde Kerk (burial book of th e Dutch Reformed Church part 122, page 126).
It was as follows:
1766:
De 14 april Hendrick Neuchem soldaet int 2de battaljon van de Heer Generaal Majoor Esscher . f 2 = =
The 14th of april hendrick Neuchem, soldier in the second batalion of Sir
General Major Esscher. The costs of the funeral were 2 guilders.
Also searched the baptism and marriage books of the reformed church and of the Swiss Regimen t in Maastricht, but could not find his marriage or any children.
Jean Conrad Esscher was general-major of the Regiment Swiss nr. 1, in the service of Hollan d in that peroid. Between 1747 and 1752 this regiment was
named the regiment of Zurich, before 1747 it was named regiment Grisons.
