Araminta Ruth Parsons, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Wollam, was born three miles east of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1855, and passed away at her home north of Mt. Sterling, Jan. 15, 1926, having reached the age of 80 years, 2 months and 14 days. In August, 1875, she was married to William H. Parsons. To this union 6 children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband and four children, Mrs. Mae Hervey, Frank Parsons and two children dying in infancy.

She is survived by one son, J.L. Parsons, of Mt. Sterling; one daughter, Mrs. J.A. Smith, of Cantril; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren and three b(r)others, Frank Woolam, of Mt. Sterling; Clark, of Stockville, Nebr.; and Joe, of Reno, Nevada; and numerous other relatives.

She united with the Christian church at Mt. Sterling under the ministry of Dan Hastings, her membership being continuous with the Mt. Sterling church. She was a consistent Christian wife and mother, often sacrificing beyond her strength for the ones she loved. Her beautiful Christian character will be cherished by the ones she has left, and will linger in their memory as a sweet incense. The world is truly better by her having passed this way.

The funeral was held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Mt. Sterling Methodist church, the Rev. A.M. Hadley, of the Cantril Christian church officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wolf sang at the services. The pallbearers were E.L. Kerr, A.A. Drummond, Floyd Madden, Curt Wolfe, J.R. Hornbaker, and Russell Heald.

Burial was in the Harness cemetery near Mt. Sterling.
