      BIGFORK -- Cora Amelia (Haker) Dester, 93, who farmed and ranched with her husband in the Windham and Stanford area, died of natural causes Thursday in Bigfork at her daughter's home.

      Her memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stanford. Burial has taken place in Standford Cemetery.

      Survivors include her daughter Elaine. and her husband, Al VandenBerg of Bigfork, Mont.; grandchildren Bryce VandenBerg of Kalispell, Brenda and Brett Miller and children Britta, Bridjett and Brielle of Whitefish; Jerry and Pam Dester and son Casey of Billings; Kari and Jim Janikula and daughter Jamie of Belgrade; Betty and Joe Weaver and daughter Tori of Belgrade. She is also survived by her beloved and devoted sister, Lorene Williams of Moccasin; brothers Marlin Haker of Stanford, Myron and wife Betty Haker of Hobson; a sister-in-law, Betty Haker of Great Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Orla in 1974; a son, Gerald in 1965; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Worm Dester in 1987; sisters Margaret, Mildred and Loretta; and a brother, Vernon.

      She was born March 23, 1910, in Groton, S.D. Her parents, Herman and Elizabeth (Denzin) Haker and children moved to Stanford in 1918.

      She married Orla S. Dester on Oct. 3, 1930, in Harlowton, Mont. They farmed and ranched in Windham, Mont., and in 1948, moved to a farm near Stanford. In 1972, they retired and moved into the town of Stanford.

      She loved her home, her flowers, and tomatoes and when still able, loved to travel. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stanford and in her last years, enjoyed listening to and visiting with Pastor Weishoff and was grateful for all the taped sermons he brought her every week and his visiting.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Stanford, Mont., or Hospice Memorials, 175 Common Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT 59901.

      The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Hospice staff for their help and comfort.
