CANTON - Leland T. Byrns, 83, died Jan. 10, 2008, at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge.
He was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Meade, the son of Frank E. and Minnie Fullerton Byrns. A longtime Canton area resident, he was a retired carpenter and construction worker.
He belonged to Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson, and had been a member of the Canton Fire Department and Canton Ambulance Service.
On July 29, 1945, he married Ruby M. Vogts in McPherson. She died July 12, 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald D. and Michael R., both of McPherson; a daughter, Shirley A. Wilson, Hutchinson; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Marvin Byrns; and a brother, Gordon Byrns.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson, with Pastor Dale Dumperth presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Olson's Mortuary, Canton. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church or Memorial Home, both in care of the mortuary.
