John Newton Fanning, Son of Alexander Newton and Elizabeth Ann (Bagby) Fanning, was born at St. Charles, Mo., 5 Sep 1839,
The first five years of his life were passed at St. Charles. In 1844 he removed with his parents to Galena, Ill., where he resided until 1851, in which latter year his filks located in Bellevue, Iowa, He lived in Nellevue many years, and married there in 1862, Mary Stuart, dau. of John and Eliza (Glover) Stuart.
He learned the trade of cooper in early life, and follows that occupation, and resides at 1040 Overton St., Los Angeles, Cal.
