      Jerry Lee Cossel, 59, of Cantril, IA formerly of Memphis, MO died June 11, 2001 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, IA.

      He was born May 14, 1942, in Scotland County, MO to Kinney and Bernice McCullough Cossel.

      He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wallace W. Gillispie Post 4958 of the VFW in Memphis, MO.

      He is survived by his parents of Memphis, MO; two daughters, Melinda Wiley of Cantril, IA and Leanna Probst of Bible Grove, MO; one son, Kinney Cossel of Belmont, NY; seven grand-children, Eric and Miranda Wiley, Aaron Hamner, Kili and Brett Cossel, Stacey Tague and Michael Probst; one great-grandson, Kyle Tague; two sisters, Carolyn Rudicil of Edina, MO and Kathy Cossel of Muskogee, OK; one brother, Bill of Mondamin, IA and companion Marcella Rehm of Cantril, IA.

      Funeral services were held June 15, 2001 at the Barker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Wheeler officiating. Burial was in the Barker Cemetery in northern Scotland County, MO. A memorial has been established in his name to the American Cancer Society. Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
