GALENA, Ill. - Robbie L. Bohnsack, 83, of Galena, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at the Elizabeth (Ill.) Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Furlong Funeral Chapel, 100 Carol-don Court, Galena, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
Mrs. Bohnsack was employed at the Galena Stauss Hospital for 26 years, retiring in 1988.
She was born on April 17, 1922, in Tullahoma, Tenn., daughter of Robert and Nell (Kendrick) Armstrong.
She married Norman Bohnsack on Aug. 19, 1943, in Rossville, Ga.; he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1988. Robbie and her husband moved to Galena in 1944.
She was a very active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, and did volunteer work for years with the food pantry and the share program.
Robbie loved her family, church and friends. Her hobbies were quilting and growing flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Norman (Breeze) Bohnsack, of Apple River; four grandchildren, Angela (Jim) Young, of Albuquerque, N.M., Julie (Mike) Kapparos, of Dubuque, Bryan (Jolene) Bohnsack, of Warren, and B'Ann (Dan) Dittmar, of Galena; and nine great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; a brother; a daughter, Sherry Oldenburg; a son, Randy Bohnsack; and a grandson, Tony Oldenburg.
