GALENA, Ill. -- Rose Oldenburg, 95, of Aurora, formerly of Galena, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galena, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Arrangements are pending at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena.

Rose Frances Oldenburg, 95 of Aurora, IL and formerly Galena passed away October 10, 2012. Funeral mass will be 11 AM Friday, October 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galena where friends may call after 10:30 AM at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. Rose was born and raised in Blue Island, IL the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Trybala) Barzycki. Rose attended school at St. Isadores in Blue Island. She was united in marriage to Robert B. Oldenburg on September 28, 1940 at St. Isadores Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on July 3, 1990. She was a homemaker and was employed at Burgess Battery Factory in Galena for a number of years. She was a volunteer for the Jo Daviess County Home Health Care, taught religious education and was a member of the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary. While living in Aurora, she was a member of Holy Angels Parish and also volunteered for Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. She enjoyed gardening and re-finishing old furniture. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She brought much joy to her family and she will be sadly missed. She is survived by a son, Richard (Catherine) Oldenburg of Washington, MO, a daughter, Roseann (Gary) Meinholz of Aurora, IL, six grandchildren, Heidi (Jay) Bolger, Alison (James) Senft, Christopher (Carolyn) Oldenburg, Daniel (Monica) Oldenburg, Thomas (Laura) Oldenburg, Jordan Meinholz, nine great grandchildren, Piper, Jonah and Naomi Senft, Clare, Dominic, Cecilia and Giana Oldenburg, Cora and Analiese Oldenburg, one sister, Frances Roche of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Roger on April 19, 1945, four brothers, Emil, Walter, William and Ernest, two sisters, Helen and Angeline. In her memory memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galena.
