- On July 26, 2010, Lela went to heaven at age 92 after a lifetime of helping and giving to others. Lela was born June 5, 1918 in Donnellson, Iowa.
Lela shared her considerable creative talents being as active member of Southport Baptist Church; teaching in the Perry Township School District; and, with her husband, presenting their own "Famous Couples Dialogues" at Elderhostels across the country.
Lela was loved and cherished by her late husband, Roland T. Nelson; her daughters, Juanita (John) Vrana and Margaret Crail; her grandchildren, Thomas, Jennifer, Brian, and Rebecca; their spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roland T. Nelson Scholarship Fund, University of Indianapolis or your favorite charity.
