Alverda Forsell, 96
ROCKFORD -- Alverda Forsell, 96, of Rockford died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, in St. Anne Center. Born March, 28, 1908, in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of George and Catherine Pogeman Schlecht. Married Albert Forsell on August 14, 1937, in Sabula, Iowa. He died Nov. 22, 1999, in Rockford. Rockford resident since 1934. She worked as an accounting teacher, starting in 1929 for Bayles Business College in Dubuque, Iowa and Brown's Business College in Rockford. She retired in 1968. Member of Oakvale Garden Club, Winnebago County Garden Club and River Bluff Auxiliary for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, tutoring and volunteering for various organizations. Survivors include her nieces, Mary (Clarence) Horst of Miles, Iowa and Catherine (Francis) Dunn of Platteville, Wis.; brother-in-law, Albert (Dorothy) Forsell; and sister-in-law, Beulah Forsell. Predeceased by her parents and sister, Irene Belk.
Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6 in Holy Family Catholic Church, where visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m.; Monsignor Thomas E. Bales will officiate. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to River Bluff Auxiliary or Holy Family Catholic Church. Arrangements by Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels Ltd., East Chapel, 1001 Second Ave.

On the 8th of February, 1899, Mr. Schlecht was married in Sabula, to Miss Katherine Pogeman, a daughter of Herman and Anna (Gerlach) Pogeman, both natives of Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Schlecht have become the parents of two daughters: Anna Irene, born April 19, 1901, and Mary Alverta, born March 28, 1908.
