Mrs. Elisabeth Rings Krebill, daughter of Christian and Elisabeth Ellenberger, was born on April 6, 1860, in Lee County, Iowa. On the
confession of her faith she was baptized and received by Elder Christian Schowalter as a member of the Zions Mennonite congregation, whose faithful member she ever remained. On August 30, 1883, she was joined in marriage with F. H. Krebill, who was father of 3 children: Albert D., Edwin J., and Klara. Klara preceded her in death. They made their home on a farm northwest of Donnellson, where they lived until 1916, when they returned to Donnellson. She passed away March 19th, 1941, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 13 days.
This marriage was blessed with seven children: Mrs. Lottie Loewenberg, Otto C. Krebill, Emma L. Krebill of Donnellson; Mrs Lizzie M. Neff, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Elmer H., Billings, Montana; William F., Davenport, Iowa. A son, Milton, died in early childhood. Also surrounding her in mourning are 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In 1928, her husband died; her sister Mrs. Theodore Hirschler also preceded her in death in 1908. Sister Krebill was an active member in the church; so also in the mission society, where she was many years president. Her faithful Christian life and acts are an inspiration for us to follow as we work and strive for heaven. She was actively doing so long as her health permitted. Her daughter Emma was always with her, and lovinging and faithfully took care of her to the end.
The funeral was held at home and at the Zions Mennonite Church Friday afternoon, March 21st, led by Elder Adolf Friesen. A mixed quartet sang the songs "Abide with Me" at the home, and "He Leadeth Me" and "Father Suffered Me Day by Day" at the church. She was interred in the Zion Mennonite Cemetery.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1916, in Donnellson, the son of Albert and Emma Banks Krebill. He married Ruth Pace on April 5, 1941, in Bells, Tenn. She survives.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Lynn Pace of Black Mountain, N.C., and Mrs. David (Liz) Fox of South Beach, Ore; two sons, Dan Krebill, of Chapel Hill, N. C., and Mike Krebill of Ann Arbor, Mich.; four granddaughters, Mrs. Peter (Kristin) McCabe of Frederick, M.D., Laura and Emily Krebill of Chapel Hill, and Sara Fox of South Beach; four grandsons, Peter Krebill of Chicago, David Burton of Danbury, Conn., Nick Krebill of Chapel Hill and Ian Fox of South Beach; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Katherine McCabe of Frederick; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a son, John Robert Krebill.
Mr. Krebill had been a Keokuk resident for the last 50 years. A civil, structural and architectural engineer, he graduated from the University of Iowa in 1938, and worked for a year with the Iowa State Highway Commission. In 1939 he moved to Tennessee to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority, and pursued graduate work toward a masters degree in structural engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
While living in Tennessee he met his wife, Ruth.
In 1943 he accepted a position with an engineering firm in St. Louis and consequently spent time in Canada, engineering for airfields, roads, bridges, pipeline and pumping stations as part of the war effort. He volunteered for the United States Navy in 1944, and served two years as a ship navigation officer. He returned to Iowa as an engineer for Stanley Engineering Company in Muscatine.
In 1950 Mr. Krebill moved to Keokuk and established Krebill Engineering Company. The company served the Tri-State Area for 36 years with a wide range of consultant services: architectural, civil and structural engineering, and land surveying. Area projects include farm-to-market roads and bridges, Riverview Park in Fort Madison, the Keokuk Fire and Police Station, Calvert Stadium, Keokuk Urban Renewal and the Keossippi Plaza. Subdivisions include Timberlane Drive, Westwood Drive and Ridgewood Addition in Fort Madison; Wolcott's Bluff, Indian Hills, Windsor Heights, Hazelhurst, Hays, and Kitzmann subdivisions in Keokuk; Wind River, Hillcrest and Pierce subdivisions in Hamilton Ill.; and Ridgely Subdivision in Kahoka, Mo. The company also developed plans for many tri-state industries for new plant construction or for plant expansion and alteration.
Mr. Krebill contributed to the engineering profession by serving as president of the Keokuk Engineers Club, the Southeast Iowa Engineering Society and the Iowa Association of Consulting Engineers. With others he formed the ILLIAMO (Illinois-Iowa-Missouri) Consulting Associates.
He served the Keokuk community not only through the contributions of Krebill Engineering, but also through numerous civic and professional organizations. He was especially active in scouting, in his service on the Trinity United Methodist Church Board of Trustees, in the Keokuk Rotary Club and as a member of the Keokuk Chamber of Commerce.
An Eagle Scout as a boy and a scoutmaster as an adult, he served the southeast Iowa Council by providing engineering design services for Camp Eastman, by working on district and council committees and by helping scouts build bluebird houses. In recognition of his efforts, he received the top award that an adult volunteer can get - the Silver Beaver award.
Mr. Krebill was the Keokuk Rotary Club's longest serving member (joined in November 1953). He served on the board of directors, was a Paul Harris Fellow and contributed occasional articles to the Pinion, the club's newsletter.
In retirement, Mr. Krebill was especially fond of golfing at the Keokuk County Club with his buddies (or children and grandchildren when they were visiting) and never tired of trying for his second hole-in-one. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, building bluebird houses and squirrel twirls and having lunch on Thursdays with his friends at Rotary.
Memorial services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating.
Visitation with the family will follow in the church's fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Foundation or the Keokuk Area Hospital Foundation.
