William Kinney Cossel, 87, of Memphis, MO, passed away March 28, 2003, in his home.
The son of George W. and Bessie F. Kinney Cossel, he was born January 2, 1916, in Davis County, IA.
After moving to Scotland County he attended Barker School. He was a member of the Barker Methodist Church.
He was married to Berniece McCullough on November 28, 1935 at the Barker Parsonage. To this union four children were born, Bill, Carolyn, Jerry, and Kathy.
Kinney started working for H.H. Tucker when he was eight years old and continued working for Tucker for 18 years. He moved to a farm and started farming for himself. In 1968 he had a farm sale and moved to Memphis. Kinney worked for the City of Memphis in the street and water department until 1979 when he retired. He then mowed the Memphis Cemetery for 20 years. While in the Barker area Kinney helped his dad dig many graves in Barker Cemetery. Kinney enjoyed fishing and camping.

He was born May 14, 1942, in Scotland County, MO to Kinney and Bernice McCullough Cossel.
He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wallace W. Gillispie Post 4958 of the VFW in Memphis, MO.
He is survived by his parents of Memphis, MO; two daughters, Melinda Wiley of Cantril, IA and Leanna Probst of Bible Grove, MO; one son, Kinney Cossel of Belmont, NY; seven grand-children, Eric and Miranda Wiley, Aaron Hamner, Kili and Brett Cossel, Stacey Tague and Michael Probst; one great-grandson, Kyle Tague; two sisters, Carolyn Rudicil of Edina, MO and Kathy Cossel of Muskogee, OK; one brother, Bill of Mondamin, IA and companion Marcella Rehm of Cantril, IA.
Funeral services were held June 15, 2001 at the Barker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Wheeler officiating. Burial was in the Barker Cemetery in northern Scotland County, MO. A memorial has been established in his name to the American Cancer Society. Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM RAE “BILL” COSSEL

William Rae “Bill” Cossel, 72, of Mondamin, IA, passed away November 30, 2008 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Bill was born on November 30, 1936 to William Kinney and Bernice (McCullough) Cossel in rural Scotland County, MO.
He was married to Bonnie Parker on December 7, 1971 in Blair, NE.
Bill worked on road construction and farmed. He enjoyed camping and Nascar racing.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry; and sister-in-law, Nancy Parker.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Mondamin, IA; daughter, Linda Elliot of Henderson, NE; sisters, Carolyn Rudicil and husband, Raymond of Edina, MO; Kathy Cossel of Keosauqua, IA; mother-in-law, Mildred Parker; aunts, Marialee Cossel, Margie McCullough and Margret Williams; uncle, Harold McCullough; special sister-in-law, Marci Girardin; sisters-in-law, Sharon Bedsaul, Judy Rus, Marilyn Stogdill; brothers-in-law, Leonard Parker and Lyle Parker; many nieces and nephews.
Bill will be missed by his “babies” Daisy Mae and Misty Sue.
Funeral services were held December 3, 2008, at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, IA. Elder Donnie Bothwell officiated. Casket bearers were Jerry McCune, Danny “Boomer” Rife, Rodney Rife, Bill Ballard, Dillon “Short” Rife, and Royal “Duke” McClannahan. Honorary casket bearers were Carol Rhodes, Mickey Parker, Travis Parker, Melinda Wiley, Kinney Lee Cossel, Debbie Miller, Diane Rogers, Julie Arnold, Marvin Jones, Ann Collier, Leann Probst, Teresa Wagner, Tonny Rus, Jim Rudicil, Brian Clark, and Donnie Fowler. Burial was in the Noyes Cemetery, Mondamin, IA.
