    Biography

    Laura Katherine Krebill passed away on Friday, January 11th, 2013 of sudden cardiac arrest at her home in Wellington, CO. She was 63.

    Laura was actively involved in her surrounding communities. She was one of the most active members in the Larimer Chapter of the Spellbinders Storytelling organization. She told stories in the Thompson School District to several classes at Ponderosa Elementary, Coyote Ridge Elementary, and Lincoln Elementary, as well as Trinity Lutheran Preschool. She was a certified Spellbinders trainer who taught others the art of oral storytelling and was a member of and served as the Chairperson of the Larimer Steering Committee, and in 2010 was named the Spellbinders Storyteller of the Year by the Larimer Chapter. She was also an active member of the Friends of the Loveland Public Library Foundation, and served on several committees that supported the Events of the Library. Reading, storytelling, and books were paramount in Laura’s life, along with her passion for caring for animals, most recently her dear boxers, Sage and Abby, her birds, Iko and Berry, and has fostered 4-H pigs the last few years.

    Born on May 14, 1949 in Powell, Wyoming, to Floyd and Wanda (Sloan) Krebill, Laura and her family lived in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota, Alaska, Iran, and Norway. She went to high school in Alaska, received her BA in Literature from Middlebury College in VT, and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Literature from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After working for over 25 years in the cutting edge of computer technology, Laura decided to pursue her “softer” side with a career in Massage Therapy. She graduated from the Healing Arts Institute in Ft. Collins, CO in 2002, and continued to teach there into 2012. She also worked the last several years as an H & R Block tax consultant.
    Family

    Laura was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Krebill; her sister, Louellen Krebill; and her parents. She is survived by many relatives and friends. She requested cremation, and her final resting place will be next to her parents in the Johnstown Cemetery, Johnstown, CO.
