This book was published in 1966 by
Paul Hirschler, was updated in 1974 by Howard Raid and was distributed widely among family
and extended family members.
Johannes Rings was born December 4,
1779 at Battenberg (near Gruenstadt), Germany. Hew was deceased 1849 at Alsheim (near
Gronau), Germany. Several of his offspring immigrated to the US in later years along with
other Mennonite families. Several settled in southeast Iowa where the Rings, Ellenberger,
and Bergthold names can still be found.

handwritten corrections that were added by Helen Krebill Hervey ( my grandmother). Updates
and corrections that you can share are certainly welcomed!
Since these pages are scanned
images, converted to PDF format, the file size is quite large and can take a long time to
load (about 3 minutes on my cable modem). It is highly recommended that you have the
latest version of Adobe Reader (it's free) installed on your computer. Later versions
will load only the page that you are viewing, a BIG time saver.
Since this book contains
information on persons still living, you must have a password to view the files. You may
obtain a password by making a request, listing your family affiliation and interest. In
making this request, you also must agree that you will not use the information for any
commercial purpose and that you will not make any included information about any living
person public.
I agree. I would like to
request a password.
I Agree and I have a
password. On to the Book!
